The Congress on Friday questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of charges against Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse and demanded his dismissal.

Khadse is facing twin charges of an illicit land deal and alleged connection with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

"Modi Ji, your credibility is at stake. Take action against Khadse, dismiss him, register a case against him for misuse of office and take decisive action," said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

"People of Maharashtra and India demand that prime minister breaks his studied silence on the issue," he added.
