The Congress on Monday demanded Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's resignation for alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) during his tenure as chairman.
"A fair probe is possible only when Arun Jaitley resigns form his post and if he does not resign, he must be sacked by prime minister," Congress leader P.L. Punia told reporters at a press conference here.
"Modi government should not delay in ordering the probe as it has promised zero tolerance towards corruption," he added.
He also demanded that a court monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe the alleged irregularities in DDCA.
He said BJP member Kirti Azad had said in the house that the CBI had sent a notice to DDCA in October 2015 and had called for a SIT probe.
"Home Minister and Parliamentary Affairs Minister were in the house when Azad made his remarks but they did not refute. This means that they agree with Azad. How can such a person continue as finance minister," he asked.
He said Jaitley has filed a defamation case against AAP leaders but not against his own party MP.
Punia also said Azad asked 52 questions on DDCA irregularities during his press conference on Sunday but Jaitley has not answered any of these questions.
