Connecticut State Assembly has honoured Dr. Thomas Abraham, founder president of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), for "helping the South Asian Indian community in becoming the strength of America."
The official citation, signed by Connecticut Assembly Speaker Brendan Sharkey and Secretary of State Denise Merrill was presented last Saturday at an event held in the assembly building in Hartford, Connecticut to celebrate India's Republic Day.
The State Assembly was represented by members Prasad Srinivasan, Mark Tweedie and Russ Morin at the event organized by Milan Cultural Association.
An honour plaque was also presented to Abraham by Milan which was also recognized by Connecticut State Assembly for its service to the community and society at large.
