Reigning Brazilian football champions Corinthians sacked coach Osmar Loss after the team's 1-2 defeat away against Ceara on Wednesday.
The result left the Sao Paulo side eighth in the 20-team standings and extended a dismal run that has seen them win just one of their past seven Serie A games, reports Xinhua news agency.
"After the match we had a conversation with Osmar and we agreed that it was time to make changes," Corinthians football director Duilio Monteiro told reporters.
"In the next match we will have a new coach. We still don't know who it will be. Nothing has been confirmed because we only just made the decision."
Loss led Corinthians to 10 wins, 10 defeats and five draws after replacing Fabio Carille in May.
