The Delhi High Court Monday issued notice to the central government and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on a plea of a candidate seeking cancellation of the CGL examination in April on grounds the paper was leaked a day before the test.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, issuing show cause notice to department of personnel and training and the SSC, asked them to file their responses by July 17.
Petitioner Nitant Trivedi, who had appeared for the SSC Combined Graduate Level examination (CGL) exam, alleged that the exam was held in April despite leakage of question papers.
He pleaded that instead of holding a fresh examination in the light of question papers leak from three different centres including Delhi, SSC went ahead and held the examination with the same question papers.
The CGL examination conducted by SSC, was held on April 21 for the recruitment of income tax inspectors, excise inspectors, sub-inspectors in Central Bureau of Investigation, preventive officers, custom examiners, assistants in various ministries and others.
Advocates N.K. Jha and Rahul Saini, appearing for Trivedi, pleaded with the court to cancel the exam which was leaked and hold fresh examination.
The plea said that Crime Branch of Delhi police had arrested 9 people, including a policeman, in connection with the paper leak case on April 20 but the examination went ahead on all India basis on April 21 and the result is yet to be out.
The court, meanwhile, rejected the petitioner's contention to stay the result saying the entire result would be subject to the outcome of this petition.
