CPI-M politburo commission to look into Achuthanandan's 'acts'

The CPI-M has entrusted the job of looking into the acts of indiscipline done by the former Kerala chief minister V.S.Achuthanandan to the politburo commission which will be headed by former party general secretary Prakash Karat.

This decision came at the two-day central committee meeting of the party that concluded Sunday in New Delhi.

The politburo commission will look into his statements in the recent past which were made against the state and national leaders.

Achuthanandan's behaviour since he staged a walkout from the state party conference held at his home district Alappuzha in February after he found that he was being targeted by his party colleagues at the delegate session, had come under the party scanner.

Despite fervent calls for him to return, the 91-year-old veteran failed to do so and as a retaliatory measure, the party decided not to name him in the newly-elected 87-member state committee.

After this episode also Achuthanandan continued his tirades against the leadership, causing a huge embarrassment to the party.

Now in New Delhi, Achuthanandan has complained to party general secretary Sitaram Yechury that whenever he raises an issue or puts up candidates for election in the democratic manner, it is seen as an "anti-party tirade".

A source in the know of things told IANS that at the moment the politburo commission will not begin its probe until the Aruvikara by-election takes place on June 27.

Achuthanandan is already miffed with the state leadership as he was left out at the inaugural campaign meeting lat week at Aruvikara by election convention of the Left Democratic Front.
