Barcelona, Jan 20 (IANS/EFE) Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff has described Cristiano Ronaldo's two back-to-back Ballon d'Or awards as "absurd".
The former Barcelona star argued that Real Madrid's Portuguese striker did not perform well in the Brazil FIFA 2014 World Cup and did not win any titles in 2013.
Cruyff wrote in Dutch daily De Telegraaf: "At the highest level, it (the Ballon d'Or) is a combination of individual talent and titles."
"From this point of view, it is absurd that, for the second consecutive year, the prize has been given to a player who has not had an excellent performance (at a major tournament) or won the most titles," he added.
Cruyff pointed out that German side Bayern Munich has the most competitions won in the past two years and one of their players should have received the award.
