World and National champion Pankaj Advani suffered a shock 2-3 (100-up) defeat against Brijesh Damani in his opening fixture of the selection camp trials for the Asian Billiards Championship here Tuesday.
Advani, however, recovered to win his next match 3-1 over Jaiveer Dhingra while Damani went down 1-3 to Dhruv Sitwala.
The eight players attending the camp (Feb 3-5) are involved in a league to decide the Indian contingent for the Asian Championships. The snooker trials will commence Feb 7.
The results (league): Brijesh Damani bt Pankaj Advani 3-2; Balachandra Bhaskar bt Dhvaj Haria 3-0; Rupesh Shah bt Siddharth Parikh 3-1; Dhruv Sitwala bt Damani 3-1; Parikh bt Haria 3-0; Advani bt Jaiveer Dhingra 3-1; Bhaskar bt Shah 3-2.
