Delhi Wednesday recorded the highest number of violations of the Model Code of Conduct in the history of assembly elections, the Election Commission said.
The number of First Information Reports (FIRs) against political parties this time was the highest at 346.
Of the total, 105 were against Aam Aadmi Party, 88 against the Congress and 86 against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said Vijay Dev, chief electoral officer of the Delhi Election Commission.
In the past one month, 70 unlicensed arms and 60 cartridges were seized by electoral officers deployed in all nine districts of the capital.
A total of 42,000 litres of liquor estimated at over Rs.1 crore was seized while cash amounting to Rs.1.6 crore was also seized from various constituencies when it was being distributed among voters.
In addition, 21 cases of paid news were monitored and notice issued to candidates.
Dev said the data was collected between Oct 4, when the Model Code of Conduct was enforced in Delhi, and Dec 2.
