The monsoon session of Delhi Legislative Assembly Tuesday got off to a stormy start with BJP attacking the ruling Congress for its alleged "failure" in controlling the price of onions and othervegetables.
The prices of vegetables especially onions have sky-rocketed in the capital.
Wearing garlands and headgear of onions and vegetable in the assembly on the first day of the session, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members shouted slogans against the government.
Leader of Opposition V. K. Malhotra called the governmrnt insensitive, saying: "The government has completely failed in containing the prices of onions and vegetables."
When his demand for discussion on vegetable prices was turned, other party members started shouting slogans which led to the adjournment of the house for 30 minutes.
With the resumption of the proceeding, issues of power and water dominated the house.
