A second-half goal from Yuber Mosquera handed Venezuela's Deportivo Tachira a 1-0 home win over Mexico's Pumas in their Copa Libertadores round of 16 first-leg football clash.
Mosquera fired in a low shot after being set up by Carlos Cermeno's cross just after halftime on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Pumas were dealt a further blow when Marcelo Alatorre was dismissed in the 69th minute after picking up his second yellow card.
The result at the Pueblo Nuevo stadium in San Cristobal means Deportivo only need to draw their return match in Mexico next Tuesday to progress to the quarter-finals of South America's top club competition.
In Tuesday's only other match, Argentina's Huracan were held to a goalless draw by Colombia's Atletico Nacional in Buenos Aires.
