Sitting undeterred under the open winter sky, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday said the protest would not hamper the functioning of the Delhi government in any way.

Speaking exclusively to IANS, Kejriwal said: "The work and functioning of the Delhi government will not be affected due to this protest."

"We will be functioning the way we have been," he added.

Sitting in a squatting posture, Kejriwal who has a sore throat, agreed to speak exclusively to IANS after a little persuasion.

Kejriwal added the functioning of the government would carry on smoothly, and it is just the "place that has changed".

"In fact, I have signed a couple of files (sitting here)," he said.

Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers are protesting outside the Rail Bhavan in the heart of Delhi against the alleged inaction of Delhi Police.

He said he was ready to protest for 10 days, and asked people and "honest policemen" to join his demonstration, demanding action against five Delhi Police officers who failed to perform their duty.

The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that policemen did not cooperate with Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti during his vigilante-style raid Wednesday night and on Minister Rakhi Birla's complaint concerning "improper action" in a dowry case.
