Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V. Narayanasamy Friday jointly launched documentary films on seven good governance initiatives produced by different wings of the government.

Narayanasamy said the documentaries highlight the innovative efforts of the civil servants who have been instrumental in ensuring that the policies and programmes of the government reach the beneficiaries.

He said these initiatives are to be suitably documented and disseminated through all possible channels of communication to enable their adoption and replication for the people.

The minister said the government has decided to do away with the requirement of filling up of Form 14 for getting family pension on the death of the pensioner, where the pensioner holds a joint account with the spouse.

A simple letter to the bank enclosing the death certificate is all that is required. This simplified process would benefit the women, he said.

The documentaries are by the department of administrative reforms and public grievances (DARPG) and the department of pensions and pensioners' welfare (DPPW).

The secretary of the first department said it has been producing the documentary films with the objective of promoting and disseminating the successful initiatives of the government. He said so far 61 documentary films have been produced.
