Don't play politics with dead, Sisodia tells Delhi MLAs

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday requested members of his own AAP as well as of opposition BJP not to play politics with the dead

Speaking in the assembly, Sisodia was referring to the debate over the death of two Delhi Transport Corporation bus drivers in an accident earlier in the day. The two were killed as a tempo rammed into a DTC bus, which had broken down, in an underpass in Madhuban Chowk area in north Delhi

Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), raised the issue in the House with the Speaker's permission, for expressing his condolences.

He said that Rs 1 crore should be given as compensation to families of both the drivers and one person from each family should be given a government job.

AAP MLA Sukhbir Singh Dalal retorted that one of the deceased was his relative and he was there when Gupta visited the area.

"After he (Gupta) arrived at the spot, sloganeering started," he said.

As the decision hotted up, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel told Gupta that "you said that you want to express your grief and you're doing politics in the name of it".

Sisodia and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot promised that compensation will be given to families of the deceased and they're also working on to giving a government job to one member from each family.

"You should raise the issue inside and outside the House as it's an important issue. But it's my request to the opposition and our MLAs, please don't do sloganeering and politics when a family is waiting for the dead body,"said Sisodia. "It's wrong."
