A driver of an app-based cab aggregator was arrested from the city's Salt Lake region for allegedly assaulting a traffic sergeant when he was stopped for overspeeding, police said on Saturday.
"Jiten Karmakar, an Ola cab driver was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a traffic sergeant in Salt Lake's sector V area," a police official said.
Karmakar got into an argument with a traffic sergeant when he was stopped for breaking the traffic rules and over speeding. The cabbie physically assaulted the sergeant when he was asked to pay the spot fine, the official added.
