The Sanskrit department of Delhi University launched its new website Wednesday.
"Sanskrit is not just a plain language for us. In fact, it is a pillar of our tradition, history and heritage which has made enormous contribution to what India is today. Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and has played a vital role in the development of all Indian languages and in the preservation of our cultural heritage," Gujarat Governor O.P. Kohli said after launching the website.
He appealed to the teaching fraternity to find a long lasting solution to the challenge of Sanskrit's low popularity and interest among students and highlighted the need to preserve it.
He urged the teachers and scholars to ensure that adequate interest for the language is generated among the young generation.
