The makers of popular animated show "The Simpsons" have decided to retire the character of teacher Edna Krabappel after death of its voiceover artist Marcia Wallace.

The makers feel that Wallace' voice is irreplaceable and they would rather retire Krabappel's character from the show, reports dailystar.co.uk

"I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace. She was beloved by all at 'The Simpsons' and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character," said Al Jean, executive producer of the show.

"The Simpsons" is the longest running animated show on television. It revolves around Simpsons's family.
