Eggs and stones were thrown at the car of Patidar quota leader Hardik Patel here on Thursday, leading to the arrest of seven persons, police said.
Patel was to address a rally in Panagar here for which he was initially refused permission. However, the authorities later gave the go-ahead.
On Thursday, when Patel was going towards Panagar, some youths on a bike hurled eggs at his car and fled. At another place, some people pelted his car with eggs and stones.
Superintendent of Police S.K. Shukla said seven people have been arrested for disrupting peace.
Patel became the face of Patidar quota stir that began in June 2015, after he led a state-wide agitation demanding that government jobs and some seats in educational institutions be reserved for the Patidar community.
