Eight 'tantriks' arrested, Rs 672,300 seized
Eight self-claimed tantriks and two associates were arrested here on Thursday on charges of cheating the public. Police seized Rs 672,300 cash from them.
The so-called tantriks were identified as Irshad, Dilshad, Shahrukh, Nasir, Asif, Nasiruddin, Shahrukh and Arif. Two men who advertised their "tantrik power" were also arrested.
The "tantriks" -- practitioners of tantra -- claimed they could solve any problem and charge a fee for it. They were taken into custody from GDA Quarters in Arthala locality.
Many had complained about being cheated by the tantriks who always wore saffron robes, Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said.
