The Electrical Building Technology India fair - targeting electrical engineering and building automation technologies - will make its debut here next October, it was announced here on Tuesday.

To be held alongside the Light India trade fair, it will be organised by the Indian subsidiary of Germany-based expo organiser Messe Frankfurt.

In a statement, the company said the fair coincides with the government's plans to make 100 smart cities. The programme will also boost the targeting electrical engineering and building automation technologies in the country.

"Prioritising energy efficiency and automation in building design and construction have come to be of vital importance today. Even the lighting field is dominated by technologies that focus on energy-management and digital-integration," said Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding executive director and board member Raj Manek.

As per the company, considering the massive growth in construction and inefficiencies, buildings alone contribute to about 40 percent of the world's total carbon footprint.

"Lighting is one of the key segments which can bring down power consumption and energy expenditures. The premier edition which will bring technology experts from both building systems and lighting sides in the capital city amidst decision makers would thus play an important role in highlighting the future of Electrical Building Technology in India," it said.
