Legendary Elton John says there is no truth to the rumours that he is planning to retire.

On Friday, it was reported that John was ready to announce his retirement to spend more time with his family. However, the singer, who has sons Zachary and Elijah with husband David Furnish, has debunked those reports in a new Instagram post on Saturday, reports thewrap.com.

"Don't believe what you read in the papers today. There is no truth to the rumours that I am planning to retire. In fact, I am looking forward to celebrating 50 years of collaborating with my partner-in-song, Bernie Taupin, next year," John wrote.

The news about his retirement dates back to February when he appeared on "The Graham Norton Show". He said: "I'm gradually going to wind down because I want to see my boys grow up. What's the point of having children if you don't spend time with them?"

John is currently on tour in Europe. He will start his two-month stint at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas in late December. Then, he will continue his tour on its North American leg for one month and will return to Europe for two months in June.

He will also star in the upcoming "Kingsman: The Golden Circle", featuring Channing Tatum.
