Emma Watson is trying to get rid of the "Harry Potter" franchise tag with parts in films like "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" and "The Bling Ring". She wants to get herself established as a serious actress, but admits she feels "inadequate" about her skills.
Watson plays Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" franchise.
"It's called the impostor syndrome. It's almost like the better I do, the more my feeling of inadequacy actually increases, because I'm just going," the 23-year-old said in an interview with Rookie magazine, reports dailymail.co.uk.
"Any moment, someone's going to find out I'm a total fraud, and that I don't deserve any of what I've achieved. I can't possibly live up to what everyone thinks I am and what everyone's expectations of me are," she added.
When Watson filmed the last Potter movie "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II" in 2010, she had lost confidence in herself as an actress.
It was only when she was cast as Sam in "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" by director Stephen Chbosky the following year, she began to rebuild her self-esteem.
"After 'Harry Potter', I didn't feel very confident in myself as an actor. It's lucky that I've improved that now, but back then I needed someone to believe in me, and Stephen really did," she added.
Watson also revealed she feels a "little constrained" by her past role as Hermione Granger in the movies, making it difficult for her to move on. While she isn't complaining about the franchise which made her name, she does admit getting sick of how people constantly refer to the magic films.
The young actress' ambitions include publishing her writing.
