Botafogo are close to signing former Brazil international midfielder Daniel Carvalho, the Rio de Janeiro club has said.
The 32-year-old has begun training with the club and is expected to sign a season-long contract within days, Botafogo coach Rene Simoes said on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
"I hope he will be available for our next Copa do Brasil match (against Capivariano on April 29)," Simoes said.
"He trained today with the team and physically he is ready. It's going to take a while before he is ready to play 90 minutes but we are going to ease him into it."
Carvalho has not played since a seven-month spell with Criciuma in 2013.
The former CSKA Moscow player has scored two goals from three international appearances for Brazil.
Botafogo, two-time winners of Brazil's Serie A championship, were relegated to the country's second tier in December.
