Pakistan's former Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani has been booked for allegedly delivering hate speeches and writing books, articles against the country's armed forces and the government.
Haqqani was named in FIRs lodged by three persons in two police stations in Kohat district of Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, Dawn reported on Monday.
The three accused Haqqani of contributing to enemy propaganda while residing in the US, "which was threatening the peace of Pakistan". They said he had caused "irreparable loss to the country and defamed it".
He was earlier criticised by Parliament for writing in The Washington Post that he helped the US forces to eliminate Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden when the government and its Inter-Services Intelligence had been kept in the dark about the secret operation.
Haqqani, who served as Ambassador from 2008 to 2011 in US, was removed form office for his alleged role in the "Memogate" issue.
The "Memogate" controversy revolves around a memorandum ostensibly seeking help from the Obama administration in the wake of the bin Laden raid to avert a military takeover in Pakistan.
