Extreme cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of Uttarakhand, with Almora facing sub-zero temperatures for the last 24 hours, an official said on Thursday.
According to the Regional Met Office, as many as 11 cities in the hill state are witnessing temperature below 5 degrees celsius.
Mussourie recorded a minimum temperature -1 degree Celsius on Thursday.
The winter chill is also being felt in the plains. Cold winds are making life tough for people even though it is a sunny day.
The mercury in Pithoragarh and Joshimath recorded 1 degree Celsius. Regional Met Director Vikram Singh says this will further plummet in the coming days.
The maximum temperature in Dehradun was 24.1 degrees and the lowest was 5.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1 notch lower than normal.
