A school here that called itself Delhi Public School (DPS) and which was not affiliated to the Delhi Public School (DPS) Society of Delhi has been ordered shut, officials said on Tuesday.
The Haryana education department passed the order after realising that two units of the so-called DPS had no permission to function.
These were affiliated not to the DPS in Delhi but to a Patna-based company incorporated in 2007.
This came to light after Gurgaon-based RTI activist Sudhir Yadav demanded a copy of Form 6, which all schools have to file annually with the district education authorities.
Yadav inquired about the proposed fee hike and the board the DPS in Farrukhnagar was affiliated to.
In response, the school authorities admitted that they were yet to get registered with the district education authorities.
Yadav then filed a complaint with the authoriries. The block education officer at Farrukhnagar issued notice to the school operators to immediately shut the school.
"The school has been running for over two years and operating classes from nursery to fifth," the RTI activist told IANS. The school officials could not be reached for comment.
