FC Pune City registered their first win of the inaugural edition of the Indian Women's League (IWL) football tournament with a 1-0 margin over Jeppiaar Institute of Technology FC here on Tuesday.
Dalima Chhibber's 47th-minute strike proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Ambedkar Stadium here.
Jeppiaar were quick off the blocks and tested the FC Pune City early on through Pratima Mukhia.
The match was confined to the midfield. Both teams tried to outfox the other, but instead of succeeding, only nullified themselves. The teams went into the break 0-0. The complexion of the match changed completely after half-time.
In the 47th minute, Dalima Chhibber latched onto a Jyoti Burrett pass and smashed it home to give Pune the lead.
Jeppiaar pressed for the equaliser but failed to construct any clear goal scoring chance.
