FIA and F1 honour victims of Paris attacks at Brazilian GP

The International Automobile Federation and Formula One drivers paid tribute to the victims of the coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people.

The attacks on Friday night in French capital Paris also left over 352 people injured.

"The FIA and its 236 affiliated members in more than 140 countries globally share the grief of the families of the victims in the terrorist attacks in Paris," Xinhua cited the FIA as saying on its website.

"The FIA community expresses its solidarity with those affected by this insufferable tragedy."

At the Brazilian GP on Sunday, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes eventually beat team-mate Lewis Hamilton to win his consecutive race and clinch second place in the season standings with one race to run in Abu Dhabi.

Before the race, the F1 drivers wore black arm bands on their pre-race parade "as a sign of mourning and tribute to the victims of the Paris tragedy and as a gesture of solidarity with their families and loved ones," an FIA statement said.

A French flag with a black ribbon on it was carried on the truck used during the drivers' parade. The same flag was displayed on the world television feed as well on 13.11.2015, the date of the tragedy.

At the start line, Paris-based Romain Grosjean held a French flag alongside other F1 drivers, Interlagos fell silent.
