The Voreqe Bainimarama-led FijiFirst party has won 32 seats in the 50-member Fijian parliament, the Fijian Electoral Commission announced. The former naval officer will be sworn-in prime minister Monday afternoon, an official said.
The electoral panel, declaring the final seat strength in the country's parliament, announced that the Social Democratic Liberal Party had won 15 seats while the remaining three seats had gone to the National Federation Party.
President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was scheduled to administer the oath of office to Bainimarama at a formal ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m., the official said.
