Fiorentina have agreed to sign promising Brazilian defender Gilberto from Rio de Janeiro outfit Botafogo, according to media reports.
Gilberto is set to join the Italian Serie A club after the Pan American Games in Toronto, where the right-back is representing Brazil in the under-22 football competition, reports Xinhua.
The 22-year-old's contract with Botafogo expires at the end of the year, meaning he is now free to sign a pre-contract with another club. The value of the transfer was not reported.
It is understood Fiorentina beat off interest in the Brazilian from Belo Horizonte outfit Cruzeiro.
Gilberto has made 50 appearances for Botafogo since his first-team debut for the club in 2011.
