Five persons, including a 65-year-old man, were on Wednesday injured in fresh violence that erupted here between protestors and security forces, officials said.
A police officer said one of the injured Ghulam Ahmad, 65, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police said a clash erupted in Soura area of Srinagar when security forces cordoned off a locality in a crackdown to arrest some youths wanted in cases of stone-pelting.
Residents allegedly threw stones at the security forces who retaliated with batons and tear gas shells.
Authorities have rushed reinforcements to the area to bring the situation under control as clashes continued.
