The return of fog Monday added to the winter chill in Uttar Pradesh, as weather officials here claimed the cold conditions will last longer than expected.

The Met Office said the cold wave and foggy conditions would persist for a few more days. However, the sun would show up later in the day.

The maximum temperature recorded Sunday in Lucknow was 20.6 degrees Celsius - three notches below average. The minimum temperature was 8.6 degrees Celsius which was the average for this time of the season.
