Heavy fog returned to the capital Thursday, disrupting rail and air services while road traffic was affected too with vehicles crawling in the morning hours with full headlights. Friday morning is expected to be same.
After a string of clear days, Delhi woke up to a blinding fog and remained under it till late in the morning. The visibility at 8.30 a.m. plummeted below 50 metres.
While the movement of over 100 trains was affected, fifteen flights were delayed. Vehicles plied with their headlights on in the early hours with many driving or riding at snail's pace.
"It was really foggy in the morning. Nothing was visible beyond 20 to 30 metres," said Shikha Dimri, who lives in east Delhi.
The minimum temperature settled at 7.2 degrees Celsius, the season's average. The day was cloudy and the maximum dipped to six notches below season's average at 14.5 degrees Celsius.
Friday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 15 and 7 degrees Celsius respectively.
