Former president R. Venkataraman served India "tirelessly", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Thursday as he paid tributes to him on his 104th birth anniversary.
"Tributes to former president R. Venkataraman on his birth anniversary. He served India tirelessly through his long years in public life," the prime minister said in a tweet.
Born Dec 4, 1910, Venkataraman was India's eighth president from July 25, 1987 to July 25, 1992. He died Jan 27, 2009.
