Four people were arrested on Wednesday after a car chase and a gun battle with police here. One of the arrested people was injured in the shootout, police said.

Rahul, Yogender, Dharmender and Deepak -- all in the age group of 23-24 years -- hail from Gurgaon and Palwal in Haryana and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

After receiving information that the four were involved in a shooting earlier in the day in which a man was injured, a team of the Gurgaon crime branch chased the car in which the four people were travelling.

When they saw police chasing them, the four opened fire at the police team, near Basai Chowk and Himgiri Chowk near Sector 9.

As police retaliated, one of the four people, Dharmender, in the car received a bullet in his leg, police officer Subhash Boken told IANS.

No civilian or policemen was injured in the crossfire.

Four pistols and 24 cartridges were seized from the accused.

Police said they were investigating the matter, and the four accused will be produced in a court on Thursday.
