Four people died Monday and five were injured when their car rammed into a tree in Delhi, police said.
All the nine victims were of the same family. The accident occurred in Kanjhawala area of west Delhi when the car driver lost control of the vehicle and it hit a tree.
The four people died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a hospital.
The dead were identified as Sanjay (35), Sangeeta (26), Sonu (30) and Abhishek (seven).
The injured - Sarita, 35, Cetna, 16, Anurag, 12, Aniket, 10 and Nidhi, 4 - were recuperating at the Fortis Hospital. Doctors said three of them were in a critical condition.
Police said the families of Sanjay and Sonu, two siblings, were returning from a temple in Gurgaon and were headed home in Haryana's Sonipat district.
It was not yet clear who was in the driver's seat.
