Four members of a family were burnt to death in a fire that engulfed their house at Keshpur in West Midnapore district, police said Wednesday.

The victims and seven other members of the family, who received severe burn injuries, were asleep when their thatched house caught fire in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to police, the condition of three of the seven injured is critical.

Police are investigating an allegation that the house was set on fire by one Taher Ali, following a dispute.

Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, police said, adding that a search had been launched to nab Ali who was absconding.
