A sum of Rs.55.97 crore has been approved by the culture ministry for the first phase of the ambitious Dandi Heritage Route, parliament was informed Tuesday.
The route will connect National Highway 228 from Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmedabad to Dandi, a distance of 374 km, Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
The work on this route has not been started due to non-finalisation of the plan and cost estimates.
"The government of Gujarat has submitted a proposal with detailed estimates for Rs. 155.28 crore for the development of the Dandi Heritage path," Katoch said.
The culture ministry is the nodal ministry for this project.
