A 35-year-old man working as a gardener at the house of a former tax officer here has been arrested for raping an eight-year-old girl, police said Wednesday.
Puranmasi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has been working as a gardener at the house of Vishwa Bandhu Gupta.
The victim, a student of class 3, went to Puranmasi's house Monday evening for some work when she was targeted.
The victim narrated the incident to her parents.
"We have arrested the accused Puranmasi. He has been sent to jail after being presented in court," police officer Jai Prakash told IANS.
