German football clubs have agreed on goal-line technology in Bundesliga matches from the 2015-16 season.
The decision was taken in a meeting in Frankfurt Thursday, reports Xinhua.
The 18 teams voted for the proposal of its introduction in the country's top flight matches. Fifteen clubs voted in favour of the proposal while three voted against it.
With a two-thirds majority the German Football League (DFL) confirmed that the FIFA licensed vendor Hawk Eye will implement the new technology from July 2015. The Hawk Eye technology is already in use in the English Premier League since the beginning of the current season.
The new technology consists of 14 cameras, which are attached beneath the stadium's roof to monitor goal-line activity.
Once the ball crosses the goal line a special receiver worn by the referee will get a feedback within one second.
"I think this is a step forward for the German soccer," DFL president Reinhard Rauball said.
FIFA referee Felix Brych said:"I have stressed for years that we support the goal-line technology. In addition, the experiences at the World Cup were extremely positive. I am very glad with today's decision."
