Germany's popular Bild newspaper on Thursday made a slew of promises to Britain if the country remains in the European Union.

The list, which combined self-knowing mockery of German and British stereotypes with a sincere appeal to voters, touched on several sources of annoyance to the British: Germans' reputation for claiming lounge chairs at resorts, their refusal to acknowledge a long-disputed winning goal by England at a 1966 World Cup final at Wembley Stadium, and a lack of respect for royalty, the NYT reported.

The newspaper promises to recognise the Wembley goal; to not make jokes anymore about Prince Charles's ears; to go without a goalkeeper in the next penalty shootout so that it will be exciting; to voluntarily provide Britain with the villain for every upcoming James Bond movie among other things.
