Ghaziabad Development Authority facing shortage of officers

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is facing a shortage of officials as 17 officers and engineers have been transferred to other places, officials said on Tuesday.

GDA Secretary Ravendra Madhukar Godbole said four of its Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officers -- Officer on Special Duty (OSD) D.P. Singh, Hanuman Prasad Maurya, Daya Nand Prasad and Nitin Madaan -- have been transferred to other places while Additional Secretary Gyanendra Verma has been transferred to Khurja Development Authority as its Secretary.

The technical wing is also facing shortage as its six executive engineers -- Kaptan Singh, R.P. Singh, R.S. Divakar, V.K. Sonkar, Chakresh Jain and Ashutosh Srivastava -- have been transferred. The finance department is also facing the crunch as Financial Controller Tuli Ram Yadav has been transferred.

Accounts Officer R.K. Rathi has also been transferred to Allahabad Development Authority. The horticulture department is also a headless body since Horticulture Director S.P. Sishodia has been transferred to Lucknow Development Authority.

A total of 17 officers and engineers have been transferred after the new government in Uttar Pradesh enforced its policy of "three years for executive engineers at one place, five years for assistant engineers and seven years for junior engineers".

The PCS officers holding OSD posts were transferred immediately after the new government took charge while other transfers came into force in phases.

The GDA is now facing the officers' crunch as the workload is already high with the ongoing projects of elevated road from UP Gate to Raj Nagar Extension, DMRC's Dilshad Garden Metro extension line to the new bus stand in Ghaziabad and other civil works being undertaken like underpasses and flyovers.
