Ghaziabad trader found dead in shop

A 75-year-old cloth merchant was found dead inside his shop here on Tuesday morning, police said.

Foul play is suspected since the body had a head injury, suggesting he was hit with a heavy object, police said.

According to police, Rajendra Kumar, who had been staying in the house of his married daughter after his wife died a year ago, had on Monday morning left for his showroom in the Maliwara market.

When he did not return in the evening, his daughter and other relatives looked for him but failed to trace him. They came to the shop on Tuesday and then found his body on the staircase leading to first floor.

"On the complaint of his daughter, a case has been registered against unidentified criminals and investigation has been initiated," said Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police H.N. Singh.
