Golfer Jyoti Randhawa here Monday said playing golf was his work while shooting was his passion.
Randhawa scored 544 points while participating in the ongoing G.V. Mavlankar Open National Shooting Championship being held at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Academy at Kadarpur near here.
"My father was in the Army so I have great charm for guns from my school days. I started participating in this championship three years ago. In 2010, my brother-in-law Digvijay Singh was participating in the final round of the championship. After the event I fired some shots and the result was good," Randhawa told IANS.
"As an Arjuna awardee I had right to apply for wildcard. I requested Punjab government for the same and qualified for the event."
The qualifying points to participate in the championship is 475. The winner of this championship will participate in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Over 600 participants across several states are participating. Nearly 300 shooters have qualified from the qualifying rounds of the championship which will go on till Feb 19.
"I have qualified my shooting rounds and I am leaving for Mumbai to participate in LP Golf Cup. The golf cup will be played till Feb 22," Randhawa added.
