Golfer Vani clinches Hero women's Tour

Star golfer Vani Kapoor carded one over 73 in the final round to win the 17th and final leg of the Hero womens Professional Golf Tour at the Noida Golf Course here on Friday.

In a nail-biting finish, Vani overcame a strong challenge from Smriti Mehra who finished second with a score of 223, to claim her seventh title of this season.

Vani had an indifferent start in the day, carding a birdie less front nine with bogeys on the sixth and ninth holes.

The Delhi's golfer stepped up her game in the back nine, carding birdies on the 11th and 17th holes while dropping a shot on the 12th. She finished with a total score of 221 after 54 holes.

Kolkata's Smriti started with aplomb, carding birdies on the first and second holes. She went on to card birdies on the seventh and eighth holes while dropping shots on the third and ninth in her front nine.

However, she could not replicate her front nine performance and undid the good work carding bogeys on the 10th,12th,15th and 18th holes, with her lone birdie on the 13th. She finished in second position with a score of 223.

Vaishavi Sinha finished third with a total score of 226 after the final round. Her card on the day included a birdie less front nine with bogeys on the second,third and ninth holes, and also a double on the fourth.

In her back nine she made an impressive comeback and carded birdies on the 13th,15th,17th and 18th holes while dropping a shot on the 16th.

Panchkula's Amandeep Drall carded five over 77 in the final round to take the fourth position. Her card included a lone birdie on the 17th hole, with bogeys on the 1st,3rd,4th and 15th. She also carded a double bogey on the 9th.

Kolkata's Neha Tripathi took the fifth position with a score of 230 after the final round, carding birdies on the 11th,14th and 17th holes.

She dropped a shot on the 15th and carded a triple bogey on the seventh. She was followed by Sharmila Nicollet who took the sixth position with a total score of 231 after 54 holes.
