German international Mario Gotze will return this season to Borussia Dortmund after spending three football seasons at Bayern Munich, which signed him for 37 million euros ($40.7 million), said Dortmund on Thursday.
"Subject to a medical, which has yet to be completed, the attacking midfielder will sign a contract with the club until June 30, 2020," reports a statement from Dortmund.
According to unofficial figures, Dortmund will pay 22 million euros ($24.2 million) for the transfer plus variables.
Gotze, who is now 24, was one of the key figures at Dortmund when it won the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012, and reached the final of the Champions League in 2013.
