BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday backed the Narendra Modi government's decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes from midnight, saying the move will help in eliminating corruption.
"PM @narendramodi has yet again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to promises he made to people of India," Amit Shah said in a Tweet within minutes of Modi concluding his address to the nation.
"PM @narendramodi ji's decision to discontinue Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 rupee note will immensely help in eliminating the corruption.
"Let us all support PM @narendramodi in his efforts & together nurture a nation that we all are proud of. I once again congratulate him," he said in a series of tweets.
"Announcements made by PM @narendramodi are exactly what is needed to uproot corruption, black money, hawala & fake currency rackets.
"On behalf of all BJP Karyakartas, I compliment the Central government and PM @narendramodi for taking tough but timely and path-breaking measures," he further posted.
"Evil designs of anti-India elements who support terror on Indian soil, fake currency rackets and narcotics also stand thwarted today," Shah tweeted.
