Eight-time German football champions Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Greece international defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos until 2019.
"We are very pleased that we have been able to sign with Sokratis, another top performer, on a long term," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website on Monday.
Sokratis joined the Bundesliga side in the summer 2013 to mark two goals in 57 appearances.
"The city, the BVB and the people here have become for me and my family a second home. I'm very happy that I still can wear the black and yellow jersey for a long time," the 27-year-old defender said.
Thomas Tuchel's men clash with second division side SC Paderborn at the second round of the German Cup on Wednesday.
