Separatist guerrillas on Friday shot at a policeman in south Kashmir's Shopian district after which they decamped with his service rifle, police said.
"Militants fired at Sartaj Ahmad, selection grade constable outside the Kachdoora (Shopian) branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank limited," a senior police officer told IANS here.
"The constable injured his hand. Militants have decamped with the service rifle of the policeman," the officer added.
The area has been cordoned off and searches have begun to trace the militants.
