Gujarat restrict Karnataka to 226/7 in Ranji

Karnataka barely survived a middle-order collapse to reach 226 for seven in their first innings at stumps on the first day of their Group A Ranji Trophy league match against Gujarat here Thursday.

After openers Mayank Agarwal (42) and Lokesh Rahu (34) put on 80, Karnataka lost six wickets for just 97 runs before Ganesh Satish (36 batting) and skipper Vinay Kumar (22) added 44 for the seventh wicket to retrieve the situation.

For Gujarat, new ball bowlers Mehul Patel and Jasprit Bumrah and left-arm spinner Rakesh Dhruv took two wickets apiece.
